BUSIIDO Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Club finished strongly at the Copa De Malaysia Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament adding one gold, one silver and four bronze medals in the final day of the competition in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
The eight-athlete team will return home with a total of one gold, one silver and 10 bronzes with the club's female competitors being the biggest contributors in the medal haul.
Dk Norfaziah Pg Hj Abas delivered the club’s gold medal in the no-gi category at the Jaya Shopping Centre after defeating compatriot Leonora Yeo in the final with the latter settling for silver.
Dk Mashirrynaty Pg Hj Matahir bagged two bronze medals while, Ng Wei Ting and Malek Ali also claimed bronze medals in their respective events.
Dk Norfaziah, Yeo, Dk Mashirrynaty and Rashidah Wahid got Busiido BJJ club off to a good start on Saturday winning bronze medals in their respective gi categories, while, Md Ihsanuddin Hj Md Hussin bagged bronzes in both weight and absolute gi categories.
The biggest BJJ tournament in Malaysia, Copa De Malaysia strictly follows the rules applied by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF).
One of the most accomplished BJJ clubs in Southeast Asia, Busiido BJJ club will turn their attention on the Pan Asian BJJ Championship in the Philippines this weekend.
The club are also preparing for next month's Copa De Bangkok in Thailand.
